Broadlands Golf
Broadlands Golf Course
Broomfield's newest municipal golf course, architect Rick Phelps of Evergreen designed Broadlands to appeal to golfers of all skill levels. This 117 acre, par-72 layout plays 7263 yards from the tips and 5350 yards from the forward tee boxes. The course features generous fairways (40 to 60 yards wide on most holes), lush turf conditions and numerous interesting water hazards. Phelps notes that while the fairways are wide, the course has strategic, but subtle design features that require the better player to position their ball into much smaller areas in order to score well. As examples, certain hazards are only visible from a specific portion of a fairway; greens receive shots from specific areas and reject shots from others; and fairways are sometimes sloped to reward a long carry over a hazard. Phelps says that few of these features are boldly apparent from the tee. He wanted the golfer to have to discover the strategy that best suites their game.
